Father’s Day is June 16, 2024! Did you know that Pickleball was invented by three dads looking to create a fun game for their kids? On a weekend getaway, the three families wanted to get the kids to play a game together. They had a badminton net but not enough rackets for everyone. So the dads improvised and started playing with table tennis paddles and a perforated plastic ball, and Pickleball was born! The rules are based on badminton, but the spirit is a game the whole family could play together.
A sport for any age
Pickleball is a great sport to play even without the kids around at any age. “As you get older, you can’t play certain sports anymore,” Colwood’s Angus Stewart said in a Victoria News article “That’s where pickleball comes in. It’s a slower game that’s easier on the body, and it’s something that brings people together…”

Already playing Pickleball?
What do you wear to play Pickleball? Does your outfit include eye protection? If you’re playing outdoors, a good pair of impact-resistant sunglasses will keep you playing at your best and protect you from UV rays.
Don’t forget to protect your eyes and your glasses when playing indoors! If you don’t like doubling up on safety glasses over your everyday glasses when you play indoors, Eye Etiquette carries lots of safety eyewear choices such as the popular Wiley X, or other safety standbys like OnGuard by Hilco, PROTEKT by 20/20, ArmouRx Prescription Safety Glasses for any activities where your eyes might need protection. From riding a motorcycle to working in the shop – it’s important to make sure your eyes are protected.
