January is Glaucoma Awareness Month. Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that result in gradual onset vision loss. The onset is so incremental that the affected individual can lose up to 40% of their vision before noticing. It’s most common in middle-aged and the elderly, but glaucoma can strike at any age, which is why we check for glaucoma in every eye exam at Eye Etiquette. Vision loss associated with glaucoma is permanent, and there is no cure; however medical intervention can slow its progression. Resolve to protect your eyesight in 2018, and get checked to catch this sneaky sight thief before it’s too late. Did you know that Dr. Jesse Peterson has a special interest in glaucoma?
