Our Eye Care Team
Carolin Roussel, owner and licensed optician, was born and raised in Halifax, N.S. She studied at Bishop’s University and graduated with Honours majoring in History, minor in Biology. During the process of pursuing her B.Ed, she met her husband, Frederick and moved to Victoria where Frederick was already stationed. With this move, came a new career opportunity for Carolin to become a licensed optician working at Maycock Optical. Now in the industry for over 15 years it was time once again for a new challenge. Thus, the birth of Eye Etiquette Optical Boutique in 2007. Carolin takes great pleasure in helping her clients find the perfect frame and cherishes the look in children’s eyes when they see clearly for the first time.
In her spare time, she has a passion for the outdoors, travelling, culture and food and, most importantly, spending quality time with her husband and their beautiful daughter, Paige.
“We have the vision, the frames, the lenses and the technology to help meet your eyewear needs,” says Carolin, “but it takes that something extra to create the “wow” factor. What truly sets our business apart is our commitment to exceptional customer service. We are staffed with professional, qualified yet fun licensed opticians that aspire to making your eyewear selection an enjoyable and informative experience that will bring you back time and time again.”
Exemplary customer service continues, most recently, with the addition of Optometrist Dr. Gurpreet Leekha to the Eye Etiquette team. He offers eye exams throughout the week at the Millstream store location. For that reason, for the last four years, Eye Etiquette Optical has been the first choice for many West Shore shoppers looking for that perfect set of eyeglasses or sunglasses.
“It’s hard to believe it’s been four years – it’s gone by so fast,” Carolin says. “We really have to thank the community for their support and the word-of-mouth advertising we’ve enjoyed as people bring in their mom or daughter or neighbour. In turn, we try to give back to local schools and nonprofits through their community fundraisers and events.”
What has created such an enthusiastic support from customers? Carolin feels that, quite simply, it’s striving not just to meet customers’ expectations but to exceed them.
The boutique setting and diversity of product means taking care of your eyes will always be a fresh and interesting experience. Sports glasses, popular with motorcyclists and athletes are a specialty, as is Eye Etiquette’s family focus with a children’s play area, tot-friendly testing and glasses designed for the younger set. In every way, Carolin Roussel has created a environment where visitors can feel relaxed and at home when the time comes to take a serious look at their eye health or select new eyewear.
