Prescription Eyewear
It is recommended that adults between the ages of 19-64 have a complete eye exam every two years. Children are free once a year up to the age of 19. Children can have an eye exam as young as six months, but typically start at age three. Perfect timing before they commence any form of schooling. The sooner an eye disorder is detected the quicker it can be resolved positively. Seniors from age 65 and above are also entitled to an eye exam once a year for a nominal fee.
Reading Eyeglasses: If you often get a headaches, eye strain and fatigue when you are reading for any length of time, this is a sure sign that your prescription eyeglasses aren’t working for you as well as they should. To protect your eye health and keep your eyes performing at their best when you read, be aware of any changes and schedule an eye exam to see if you need any adjustments.
Computer Eyeglasses: There are several important factors that can lead to eye fatigue when you use a computer. Glare can be a problem when you work near primary light sources such as computers. So can high-energy wave lengths produced by artificial light sources, such as fluorescent bulbs and computer screens. If you are on a computer for a prolonged period of time, your eyes can become drier because you blink less often which leads to dry, irritated eyes. Be aware of these factors as eye fatigue and uncomfortable pressure and pain at points of contact can be minimized with a task-specific prescription and frame adjustment.
If you spend a lot of time on computers or hand-held electronic devices, there are benefits from wearing prescription eyewear exclusively for its use with frame systems engineered for optimal weight, comfort and durability. Most users reserve specialized prescription eyewear for computer viewing, although some multipurpose use would not be harmful in any way.
Sport & Safety Eyeglasses: For special workplace safety or active eyewear needs, Eye Etiquette Optical also carries a full range of safety glasses and sport glasses, prescription swim goggles and prescription dive masks.
